Promises of happiness are often followed by disadvantages, excessive demands and feelings of guilt. The mother has become an artificially glorified ideal, which nevertheless is often legitimized by the „nature of the woman“. We live in a time when three people could claim to be the same child’s mother: egg donors give their genes to beget children, surrogate mothers deliver babies which they give away immediately after birth, and men raise children by themselves – without a woman at their side. Hence the question arises: What makes a human being a real mother?

  Vor vielen Jahren wurde der große, mächtige Grüffelo von der kleinen Maus mit einem schlauen Trick ins Bockshorn gejagt. Seither hat er eine Heidenangst vor dem frechen Nager und hält sich fern vom dunklen Wald, in dem die Maus lebt. Auch dem Grüffelokind hat der Vater eingeschärft, dass der Wald nichts Gutes verheißt. Grüffelokinder aber sind neugierig, und eines Nachts macht es sich auf den Weg, um die mysteriöse Maus aufzuspüren. Als es im Schnee auf eine längliche Spur stößt, ist das Grüffelokind fast schon sicher, am Ziel zu sein – doch dann stellt sich heraus, dass die Schlange diese Spur hinterlassen hat. Furchtlos wandert das Grüffelokind weiter und findet bald eine Klauenspur, die allerdings der Eule gehört. Und auch einige Pfotenabdrücke führen nicht zum Ziel, denn diese hat der Fuchs hinterlassen. Das Grüffelokind ist enttäuscht: Gibt es die böse Maus am Ende vielleicht gar nicht? Aber schließlich stößt es bei seiner unermüdlichen Suche doch noch auf die richtige Spur …

  Between 1955 and 1995, over 70,000 West African children were fostered by white Britons, in a practice known as ‘farming’. Many individuals then had to live, often in silence, with the long-lasting impact of this controversial official policy. Nine of those raised this way were invited to a workshop retreat, under professional guidance, to discuss their experiences. Each take turns delving into their past, revealing the confusion and trauma of dealing with such change at a young age. For many, this marks the first time they have had the opportunity to connect with people who have shared a similar childhood.   Die Hexe (im Original gesprochen von Gillian Anderson) liebt es mit ihrem Besen durch die Lüfte zu sausen und sich dem Freiheitsgefühl des Fliegens hinzugeben. Dabei wird sie stets von ihrer Katze (Rob Brydon) begleitet. Doch während einer ihrer Ausflüge ereignet sich ein tragischer Unfall: Gerade als das Duo vollkommen unbekümmert durch die Lüfte gleitet, verliert die Hexe ihre Haarschleife, ihren Hut und ihren Zauberstab. Die Gegenstände werden vom Wind erfasst und davon geweht. Doch das Hab und Gut der Hexe wird von einem Hund (Martin Clunes), einem Vogel (Sally Hawkins) und einem Frosch (David Walliams) aufgenommen und zur Besitzerin zurückgebracht. Beeindruckt von ihrem Flugobjekt bittet jedes der Tiere um einen Platz auf dem magischen Besen. Alle vereint heben sie gemeinsam ab. Doch der Besen ist das große Gewicht nicht gewohnt und so stürzt die kleine Gruppe samt Besen ab und landet ausgerechnet in einem schaurigen Sumpf…

  For over 130 years till 1996, more than 100,000 of Canada's First Nations children were legally required to attend government-funded schools run by various Christian faiths. There were 80 of these 'residential schools' across the country. Most children were sent to faraway schools that separated them from their families and traditional land. These children endured brutality, physical hardship, mental degradation, and the complete erasure of their culture. The schools were part of a wider program of assimilation designed to integrate the native population into 'Canadian society.' These schools were established with the express purpose 'To kill the Indian in the child.'
