Und gleich auf seinem ersten Spaziergang trifft er auf Totoche, der „Wilderer“, wie ihn Borel abschätzig nennt und vor dem er Paul gewarnt hat. Aber Paul stellt schnell fest, dass Totoche ein überaus liebenswürdiger Kerl ist, von dem er noch jede Menge lernen kann.
