  Kate Loughlin ist eine lebhafte junge Schauspielerin, die in der unbarmherzigen Londoner Filmmaschinerie auf ihren großen Durchbruch hofft. Als sie zum Vorsprechen für eine Hauptrolle in einem großen Filmfranchise eingeladen wird, gibt sie alles, um den Part an Land zu ziehen.   Sakai Yuji ist eigentlich ein ganz normaler Schüler, als er mitten in einer Einkaufsstraße bemerkt, dass die Zeit stehen geblieben ist. Plötzlich tauchen zwei Monster auf und fressen die Menschen buchstäblich auf. Als er das nächste Opfer sein soll, taucht plötzlich ein Mädchen mit flammenden roten Haaren auf. Sie macht kurzen Prozess mit den Monstern und alles scheint wieder normal zu sein. Dann erklärt sie ihm allerdings, dass er durch diesen Angriff "gestorben" ist. Aber dank einer für ihn unbekannten Gabe bleibt er der Welt erhalten. Das Mädchen nennt sich selber "Flame Haze". Yuji gibt ihr den Namen "Shana" und so freunden sie sich langsam an (aber auch mehr widerwillig von Shanas Seite). So beginnt es... das erste Abenteuer von Shana und Yuji.
