Für Irland ist es die erste UN-Friedensmission in der Geschichte. Doch schon bald werden die Blauhelme von circa 3.000 bis 5.000 militanten Anhängern Tschombés angegriffen. Durch die zahlenmäßige Unterlegenheit scheint die Situation für die Iren ausweglos. Doch Quinlan führt seine Männer entschlossen an und gemeinsam leisten sie erbitterten Widerstand

  The Irish musician Oisín (Tadgh Murphy) and his band come to Berlin for a few gigs. They are excited about the city and its legendary nightlife. As they unpack their things at the hostel, Oisín finds an envelope with money from his father in his pocket. Later, at their concert, everything seems to be going well - the boys are in a good mood, the audience is going along - when Oisín suddenly freaks out in the middle of the stage. The anger at his father for abandoning the family and the pain over his mother's death overwhelm him and he throws himself into Berlin's nightlife alone. When he meets the young, pretty Berliner Sabine (Aylin Tezel) and she shows him places far away from the party and tourist hotspots, he seems to find support with her.

  In 1986 a London-Irishman by the name of Larry Tracey took it upon himself to form the Irish Bobsleigh and Luge Association. He recruited a group of elite Irish rowers and set his sights on qualifying the team for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Having achieved qualification for the games, the stage was set for an historic Olympic debut. But one thing stood in their way; the Olympic Council of Ireland. Despite qualifying for the games, the OCI refused to allow them to compete at the games in Calgary, which saw the famous Jamaican bobsleigh team become Olympic heroes. Undeterred, the team evolved and set their sights on the 1992 Winter Games in Albertville, France.

In seiner Jugend zieht er mit seiner Familie zurück nach England, zu einer Zeit, in der der Nordirlandkonflikt einen tiefen Graben in die britische Gesellschaft gerissen hat. In London wird Shane dank seines literarischen Talents mit 14 an der ehrwürdigen Westminster School aufgenommen. Aber der irische Junge mit den schiefen Zähnen und dem starken Akzent bleibt dort Außenseiter. Nach dem Besuch eines Konzertes der Sex Pistols im Jahr 1976 weiß Shane, was er will: Musiker werden!
