Zurück bleibt ein Schuh und das Glöcklein, das die Frau ihrem Geliebten als Schlüsselanhänger geschenkt hatte. Über die Vermittlung einer Nachbarin findet Yumiko fünf Jahre später einen anderen Mann, der seinerseits die Frau verloren hat und mit seiner kleinen Tochter in einem Fischerdorf am Meer lebt. Sie zieht dahin und versucht, mit der Erinnerung fertig zu werden.
