Das Mädchen Alisa lebt mit Mutter und Großmutter in einem Dorf am Meer. Vom Vater weiß sie nur, dass er Matrose war und nach der Liebesgeschichte mit der Mutter für immer verschwand. Alisa besitzt die wunderbare Fähigkeit, Wünsche in Erfüllung gehen zu lassen. Mit 18 Jahren hat Alisa die Nase voll vom langweiligen Leben in dem Heim für geistig Behinderte, in das man sie gesteckt hat, weil sie nicht mehr sprechen wollte. Sie setzt ihre magischen Kräfte ein und lässt einfach das ganze Dorf wegblasen. Danach zieht Alisa mit ihrer Familie nach Moskau. Das Leben dort ist hart, aber das Meermädchen nimmt sein Schicksal in die Hand. In einem zynischen und lebensmüden jungen Geschäftsmann, den sie vor dem Ertrinken rettet, findet Alisa ihren widerspenstigen Märchenprinzen.
