The workers are locked in the building site. They are not allowed to leave it after 19.00. The Lebanese government has imposed night-time curfews on the refugees. The only contact with the outside world for these Syrian workers is the hole through which they climb out in the morning to begin a new day of work. Kurz darauf erhält er Gelegenheit seinen entfachten Eifer unter Beweis zu stellen: Gemeinsam mit anderen Kindern soll er den israelischen Piloten Yoni bewachen, der über Palästina abgeschossen wurde. Diesem gelingt es jedoch nach einiger Zeit das Vertrauen des Jungen zu gewinnen. Eines Tages fliehen die Beiden gemeinsam, obwohl sie auf politisch völlig verschiedenen Seiten stehen. Auf ihrem Weg durch ein vom Krieg gezeichnetes Land, entwickelt sich langsam eine Freundschaft zwischen ihnen.

Leider hat sich Mokthar im Eifer des Gefechts schon drei Mal von Batoul getrennt. Um sie zurückzugewinnen, muss er nach islamischem Gesetz zuerst einen anderen Mann für sie finden.
