Wütend macht Maryam vor allem der Zustand der Straße vor der Klinik. Weil die Stadt die Zufahrt nicht asphaltiert, bleiben die Patienten regelmäßig im Schlamm stecken. Maryam will Veränderung und bewirbt sich um eine bessere Stelle in Dubai. Doch wegen einer Formalität und weil sie keine männliche Begleitung hat, lässt man sie nicht reisen. Maryam sucht Hilfe bei einem entfernten Cousin. Doch der Zufall will es, dass der als Beamter nur Kandidaten für die anberaumte Wahl des Stadtrats empfängt. Vor allem aus Trotz erklärt sich Maryam kurzerhand zur Kandidatin. Erst später wird ihr klar, welche Chance zwischen der bürokratischen Willkür lauert: als Stadträtin könnte sie die Asphaltierung der Klinik-Zufahrt selbst in die Hand nehmen.
