Kurz bevor sich Prinz Edward von Andalasia und Prinzessin Giselle im Zeichentrick-Märchenland vermählen können, interveniert die böse Stiefmutter. Fünfzehn Jahre sind seit der Hochzeit von Giselle und Robert vergangen, aber Giselle ist desillusioniert vom Leben in der Stadt. Auf der Suche nach einem märchenhafteren Leben beschließen sie, mit ihrer wachsenden Familie in die verschlafene Vorstadtgemeinde Monroeville zu ziehen – leider ist das nicht die schnelle Lösung, die sie sich erhofft hatte. In der Vorstadt gelten ganz andere Regeln und die örtliche Bienenkönigin Malvina Monroe sorgt dafür, dass sich Giselle mehr denn je fehl am Platz fühlt. Frustriert darüber, dass es gar nicht so einfach ist, ihr Glück zu finden, wendet sie sich an die Magie von Andalasien, um Hilfe zu erhalten. Dabei verwandelt sie versehentlich die gesamte Stadt in ein echtes Märchen und bringt das zukünftige Glück ihrer Familie in Gefahr. Nun beginnt für Giselle ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit, um den Zauber rückgängig zu machen und herauszufinden, was „glücklich bis ans Lebensende“ für sie und ihre Familie wirklich bedeutet.

Zum Ende von Jagdfieber waren Boog der Bär und der Haushund Mr. Weenie in den Wald zurückgekehrt, um sich den wilden Tieren anzuschließen, und der Hirsch Elliot hatte sich in die Hirschkuh Giselle verknallt.
