In einem fernen kurdischen Bergdorf im Osten der Türkei geraten die alte Berfe und ihre Enkelin Jiyan in Schwierigkeiten, als ihr Sohn und Vater Temo, einziges männliches Mitglied des Haushalts, mit allen anderen jüngeren Männer des Dorfes vom türkischen Militär verhaftet wird. Der kommandierende türkische Offizier hatte die Information, dass in jedem Haus des Dorfes Waffen versteckt seien. Jeder Gefangene kommt frei, sobald die Angehörigen ein Einsehen haben und die versteckten Waffen abgeben. Das Problem ist aber, dass es gar keine versteckten Waffen gibt! Auch Berfe und Jiyan machen sich in ihrer Verzweiflung auf den Weg eine Waffe zu finden, um Timo aus den Händen des Militärs zu befreien.
