Scheherazade zweifelt daran, dem König weiterhin Geschichten erzählen zu können, die ihm gefallen, solange ihre Erzählungen so voller Schwermut sind. Doch, nach dem Ihr Onkel kurz in die nächstgelegene Stadt aufgebrochen ist, fängt es im Haus an seltsam zu rumoren: Sehr merkwürdige Geräusche erschrecken Sarah und ihr Vater, der in den oberen Etagen aufräumen wollte, ist plötzlich spurlos verschwunden. Zudem scheint das Haus sie gefangen halten zu wollen, denn alle Türen und Fenster sind plötzlich fest verschlossen. Irgendetwas abgrundtief Böses hat sich im Haus eingenistet und wartet auf Sarah.

Ferryman Alexander is locked in a silent generational battle with his teenage daughter Masha; her eyes are on the outside world. Further along, a little team of ships from the Second World War turns up, and a woman steadfastly runs a weather station.
