People who didn’t know each other, simultaneously exchanged houses for 24-hours. Each one brought a portable video camera and had total freedom to film whatever they wanted in the home of this stranger during this period. Each participant tried to elaborate a 'mental image' of the "other" while along with their personal objects and their homely universe. At the end of the experience, each one gave a personal report on how theyimagined the “other”. "Two way street" is a project that deals with the reality of the urban individual who lives alone. It is an attempt to disorganize a little bit these realities. Using a video camera the participants insert their personality (through sight perspective) into the personality of someone else that is absent. Solitudes confound themselves at some point in the flow of looking at and being looked at, of absent presence and present absence, and of identification and differentiation.

The physical evidence left behind warns us of another judgment to come, but when? The second film in THE DAYS OF NOAH series, "Judgment Hour," answers this question. Just before the Flood, Noah gave a judgment hour message to the world and likewise, a prophecy foretold at the end of time another message would go forth to the world declaring "the hour of His judgment is come." (Rev 14:6) As the judgment hour message proclaimed by Noah invited the people to find mercy and refuge in the Ark, so too, this judgment hour message for the last generation contains the instructions whereby man might find mercy and refuge in the last Ark before the destruction of the world by fire.

In 1947, two years after the end of the Second World War, Film Journal No. 1 was released in Sarajevo. Fifty years later, after the collapse of the Communist bloc, this newsreel was lost in the confusion of the fighting in Yugoslavia. In Journal No. 1 Hito Steyerl attempts to find out how the footage got lost and what was on this document from the Sutjeska studio. In the simultaneous projection of Journal No. 1 the ‘unattainability of an historical zero hour of the national identity’ takes concrete form: The lost newsreel reports on a literacy campaign as well as Muslim women confidently removing their headscarves. We listen however to eyewitnesses trying to recapture the lost content and we see the artist Arman Kulasic making a number of drawings that resemble the story-boards for the lost film. What appears to be moments of great change remain limited by subjective and uncertain memory. The film was premiered at documenta 12.
