“El silenci abans de Bach” és una aproximació a la música i a les disciplines i oficis que l’envolten a través de l’obra de Johann Sebastian Bach, una mirada sobre les profundes relacions dramatúrgiques que existeixen entre imatge i música, de manera que aquesta darrera no es concep com un mer subratllat subsidiari de la imatge, sinó com a subjecte paritari de la narració. Així doncs, parteix d’una estructura musical prèvia. La banda sonora es nodreix d’obres de J.S. Bach, de dues sonates de Fèlix Mendelssohn i d’un estudi de Györg Ligeti, que creen una volta arquitectònica sota la qual transcorre la història de la pel·lícula. Una passejada pels segles XVIII, XIX i XXI de la mà de J.S. Bach. "El silenci abans de Bach" conté algunes de les imatges més inspiradores del cinema dels últims anys: pianoles que ballen i cauen al mar, un concert de violoncel·listes en un vagó de metro en moviment, una desfilada de partitures en vista zenital...
