14 d’abril, Macià contra Companys és una ficció televisiva, camuflada sota l'aparença d'un documental, presumptament enregistrat el 1932, però amb els mètodes, l'estil i els mitjans propis del 2010. Gràcies a aquesta llicència temporal, els protagonistes d'un dels episodis cabdals de la Catalunya del segle XX comenten els fets en primera persona, mentre una càmera tafanera ens ajuda a reviure el què va passar a Barcelona entre el 14 i el 17 d'abril de 1931, els tres dies de vigència de la República Catalana. Tot plegat, amb l'objectiu de mostrar la grandesa i la precarietat d'un gest mig improvisat per part de Companys, corregit en clau sobiranista per Macià, i que va derivar en una baralla a crits entre els dos grans mites de la nostra història contemporània. Va ser un nyap, amb moments certament hilarants... però aquella audàcia va fer caure un rei i va fer possible l'autogovern català, per primer cop des de 1714.
