Ranskalainen poliisikomisario Richard Kemp tutkii Hélène Batistellin murhaa. Batistellin tapaus muistuttaa komisariota vanhasta sarjamurhatutkimuksesta, jonka parissa hän kamppaili tuloksetta aivan uransa alussa.
