Vaikkakin Catrinin taiteilijamies vähättelee hänen työtään, Catrinin synnynnäinen sähäkkyys saa välittömästi kyynisen, mutta nokkelan pääkäsikirjoittaja Buckleyn huomion. Yhdessä he ryhtyvät työstämään epookkielokuvaa Dunkerquen pelastajasta, pääroolissaan suurenmoisen huomionkipeä entinen matineatähti Ambrose Hilliard.
