Valter Hein ja Karl Tammik ovat Sinimäillä ennen muuta virolaisina puolustamassa isänmaansa itsenäisyyttä, eivät Suur-Saksan rajoja. Pojat ovat valmiita pyyhkimään takalistonsa Hitlerin kuvalla, jonka saavat puoluepampulta kunnianosoituksena hyvin tehdystä työstä. Ilman saksalaisia ei kuitenkaan ole toivoakaan vastarinnasta. Syyskuun puolessa välissä kaikki on Viron kohdalta ohi. Puna-armeija ajaa Virossa saksalaisia takaa kohdaten usein heidän sijaan virolaisia Waffen-SS -joukkoja.
