Valkokankaalla neiti Potteria tulkitsee Renee Zellweger.Beatrix Potterin (1866–1943) rakkaimpia lapsuuden ystäviä olivat lemmikkieläimet ja puutarhan pörröiset eläimet, joita hän mielellään piirsi muun muassa kirjeenvaihdon kuvitukseksi. Neiti Potter tarjosi kustantajille esikoisteostaan Petteri Kaniini huonolla menestyksellä. Warnerin veljekset tarttuivat kirjaan lähinnä tarjotakseen nuorimmaiselle veljeksistä ”ajankulua”. Norman Warner (Ewan McGregor) paneutui kuitenkin kirjan kustantamiseen huolella, ja vuonna 1902 julkaistusta Petteri Kaniinista tuli heti yleisön suosikki. Viktoriaanisessa Englannissa Beatrix Potter elää varsin epäsovinnaista, itsenäisen naisen elämää. Potterin elämään mahtuu kuitenkin niin rakkauden huumaa kuin tragediaakin.
