Kaiken pahan alku ja juuri Paprikassa on laite, jolla on mahdollista sukeltaa suoraan ihmisten uniin ja samalla vaikuttaa niihin. Kun salaperäinen taho varastaa laitteen ja rupeaa tekemään tuhojaan unimaailmassa, käy vähitellen selväksi, että peliä pelataan tällä kertaa isoilla panoksilla. Ainoa toivo lienee tohtori Chiba Atsuko, joka unimaailman siirtyessään ottaa nokkelan, kauniin ja kyvykkään Paprikan hahmon. Mutta tämä uhka saattaa olla liikaa jopa jokapojan unelmien naiselle.
