Au Danemark, deux réalisatrices trentenaires lancent un appel à casting féminin pour un film érotique basé sur des expériences réelles. Une centaine de candidates, de leur âge ou plus jeunes, répondent spontanément à l’annonce. Dans un studio improvisé, les auditions commencent sous forme de dialogues entre les filmeuses et celles qui leur font face, une à une. Mais le dispositif du casting prend la tournure imprévisible d'une agora, les jeunes femmes interrogées s'emparant des questions posées pour s'exprimer sans détour ni fausse honte sur leur expérience et leur perception de la sexualité. A group of filmmakers arrives in Santiago de Chuco, a town in the Peruvian highlands where the poet César Vallejo was born. With the excuse of a casting, the filmmakers appropriate the theater and the inhabitants of the place arrive, revealing little by little some lives embraced by the aura of the poet, who died in Paris seventy years ago. All of them, inhabitants and filmmakers, are confused between verses, stories and poetry. Fantasy emerges and characters like the blind Santiago-who rings the bells always warning something-; or the young musician Elder - whose desires loom like a cornucopia-trace a liminal path between fiction and reality.

We wanted to make a film about a teenage mother. We met Joana in a casting that took place in Setubal, in the Bela Vista neighborhood. She appeared to us as a porcelain doll, small, fragile, pale, with a little hair bow. Little by little, she crumbled apart, revealing a charming complexity. We were conquered by the duality of strength and fragility, freedom and incarceration, joy and sorrow. The intimacy and complicity we were able to establish with her made this film possible. In Cat's Cradle, we share her with everyone else.

It is an attempt to find out if one can live this way, without what most believe as the necessities of a place they call home. What do his friends, family and film colleagues think of Garth's decision? What are the logistics? How is he going to manage after 34 years of having access to all basic needs? Is he crazy? Casting these questions and judgments aside, Garth decides to find out for himself if it is possible to live in a van. Not only is he confronted by the difficulties of showering, cooking and the general limitations that living in a van requires, Garth has some hazardous encounters with car thieves and junkies. Garth also meets other van dwellers and shares their stories of van ethics, survival and purpose.

A portrait arises, singular and multiple, public biography and intimate memory, drawn up by the woman of the past as well as by the young generation of 2014. Slowly, a reconstituted and collective figure emerges and encounters an own fictitious life.
