Palace Guard is the story of a reformed jewel thief and cat burglar, Tommy Logan, who, after serving three years in prison, is released on parole and accepts an offer to become the head of security for the posh Palace Hotel chain. There were two reasons for this somewhat unusual job offer. One was that Logan had previously enjoyed great success in stealing from the high-class clientele of the Palace chain, and hence it was thought that he'd understand how to prevent others from doing so. And the other was that Tommy was the illegitimate son of the chain's owner, Arturo Taft, though Taft did not reveal this to Logan. The show centered primarily around the working relationship between Logan and his new boss, Christy Cooper, the hotel chain's Vice-President of Public Relations. In each episode, Logan and Cooper travelled to a hotel in a different city where Logan would help avert some disaster using quirky and questionable methods, leaving Cooper to sweep up the fallout.

INXS fans can rejoice over the release of this buoyant concert film, shot during an ecstatic performance before 72,000 hopping fans in London's Wembley Stadium on 13 July, 1991. The Australian band's vocalist, the late Michael Hutchence, is at his feral-romantic best, stalking and swiveling his way through an energized set of welterweight pop. The show starts with a big, boomy "Guns In The Sky", takes a turn toward unexpected soulfulness with "New Sensation" and spreads the wealth with a sharp set of ballads and rockers. Hutchence has fun with a naughty "Know The Difference", plays around with a Jagger-esque take on confessional soul in "The Loved One" and milks "Never Tear Us Apart" for all it's worth. The band sounds more muscular than they did in the studio, hard-charging and rough on "Suicide Blonde", drunk on a jazzy guitar hook in "Need You Tonight" and completely danceable on "Bitter Tears".

Il film parte con una citazione da Lo specchio della vita e termina con un'altra da Madame X e inserisce anche un dialogo tratto da Sinfonia d'autunno di Bergman. Tutto questo per raccontare la storia di Rebecca che è sempre vissuta all'ombra della madre, famosa cantante. Da piccola si era macchiata di un crimine contro un compagno di mamma. Ora c'è di mezzo un altro omicidio a cui indaga un giudice che, per motivi di lavoro, ha anche indossato gli abiti femminili in un locale notturno ed ha amato intensamente Rebecca in camerino. La madre si sacrificherà per farsi perdonare dalla figlia l'indifferenza con cui l'ha allevata. Efficace Victoria Abril e anche Miguel Bosé nel ruolo duplice del giudice
