Queste hanno però breve durata, in quanto il presunto colpevole viene catturato e sembra "firmare" la propria confessione sottraendo una pistola a un poliziotto e sparandosi in bocca. Il caso è chiuso, ma Black non è convinto: ha promesso solennemente alla madre di prendere l'assassino.
