Vooral de relatie met haar moeder Sybille, eens een gevierde actrice, heeft ervoor gezorgd dat ze nooit voluit durft te leven. Het schrijven, en het feit dat Anna haar verhalen laat lezen aan haar dierbaren, heeft veel meer gevolgen dan Anna kon overzien toen ze ermee begon. Er wordt iets in gang gezet dat niet meer terug te draaien is.
