Codzienny kontakt sprowadza się zatem do rozmów telefonicznych oraz sygnałów świetlnych, za pomocą których próbują się komunikować. Odwiedziny najbliższych możliwe są jedynie dzięki pozwoleniu na pracę, umożliwiającemu bohaterowi przekroczyć przejście graniczne. Okazuje się jednak, że ważność dokumentu wygasła, a do wyrobienia nowego potrzeba czasu. Biurokratyczny problem przybiera na sile z chwilą, gdy Mustafa dowiaduje się, że jego syn uległ poważnemu wypadkowi. Mężczyzna zrobi wszystko, by w tej dramatycznej chwili być jak najbliżej rodziny.
