Kishan's presence and the problems raised from gender and cultural expectations cause tension. When Kishan decides to stay indefinitely, conflict erupts. A series of poignant episodes help Laura appreciate Kishan's zest for life and at the same time enable Raj and Laura to examine their lives in a new light.
