Kurt on palannut töihin hyllytyksen jälkeen. Hän sekaantuu henkilökohtaisesti juttuun, jossa kahdeksanvuotias tyttö on kadonnut. Ainoa jälki hänestä oli pala karkkia ja polkupyörä.
