Operaio da 43 anni presso le industrie Saab, Ove viene mandato in pensione e da quel momento, senza nulla da fare, con il suo atteggiamento molesto finisce per causare ancora più ostilità nel vicinato. Ogni mattina alle 6.30 Ove si alza per condurre la sua ispezione poliziesca del quartiere e assicurarsi che le regole siano rispettate, che tutto sia in ordine. Ma l’arrivo di Parvaneh, la nuova vicina di casa, iraniana che si è trasferita da poco ad abitare, con il marito e i due figli, nella casa difronte aprirà poco per volta la mente di Ove, restituendocelo come il miglior “nonno” che un nipote possa desiderare.

Seventeen years after their conviction, the five defendants still claim they are innocent. "The Reconstruction" follows the police investigation and juridical process step by step.
