A partire, inizialmente, da Allison che dichiara di odiarlo (ha compiuto involontariamente un attentato all'integrità del romanzo che la giovane collega sta scrivendo) ma che finisce con l'aiutarlo quando si ficca nei guai. Il che accade a ritmo costante perché Sydney riesce a mettersi in competizione con il suo diretto superiore e a creare problemi (uno dei quali di tipo canino) alla starlette in ascesa Sophie Maes.
